This Sunday (9/17) we took a special offering to support disaster relief in Houston/Fl./the Caribbean. If you missed this Sunday, or were unprepared to give, you can still give online this week! (Please enter “Houston” or “Relief” in the note)
Evergreen people- As this last weekend unfolded, we saw the fourth largest city in America hit with one of the worst natural disasters in American history. As a community of both hope and generosity, we want to participate together in helping those impacted by the flooding. We know this will be a long term prospect for the City of Houston, but one way we can help right now is to provide funds for those working on the ground in helping to feed, clothe and eventually rebuild. To that end, we are going to take a special offering in September with all funds raised going directly to support relief efforts in Houston. Please consider what you/your family can give over and above what you normally give to support the work of Evergreen and other ministries/charities. It’s important that in times of disaster we dig deep and sacrifice, while not short-changing the good organizations we regularly support. We’ll have more info in the coming days on when we’ll take the offering and how the funds will be distributed, but start thinking now about how you can participate. Thank you Evergreen for being an incredibly generous community whose love is shown in some very tangible ways!
Evergreen, mark your calendars! We don’t say this often, but Sunday, September 10th is an important day and you won’t want to miss it.
Alongside starting a new series through the book of Philippians and worshiping together, we will do four things:
-Roll out all of our available home communities for the fall. Home communities are incredibly valuable for anyone seeking to connect with others and build community in a way that isn’t possible on a Sunday morning. This will give you an opportunity to see what day and location would work best for you.
-Share some vision and talk about what our focus will be this fall as we move forward and seek to discern together what God has for us as a community in the next year.
-Introduce a new mobile app that will make connecting and communication easier during the week. You’ll remember that The Table up and disappeared several weeks ago and we think we’ve found a better replacement that will be more functional and allow us to have discussions and communicate important information about events coming up.
-Enjoy lunch together after the gathering. We’re going to have an awesome food truck that will be selling tacos and burritos for a very reasonable price! I hope you’ll join us!
