Dustin Bagby- Pastor/Elder
Dustin graduated from a small bible college in the midwest with straight B’s, did a little better at Western Seminary, and has helped plant a church in New York City and helped lead a college ministry in Tampa, FL. He loves his two boys; Gram and Owen, his wife Kelli, home-brewing, classic literature, indie music, comedy, and the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He blogs about twice a year here and has a home brew blog here.
Dr. Bob Hyatt-Pastor/Elder
Bob has felt drawn to pastoral ministry since the 5th grade- he’s always known: this is what he wanted to do- helping people find relationship with God. This has worked itself out most clearly in planting the Evergreen Community in 2004. His passions now also include helping/mentoring other pastors, blogging here, and buying the latest techno-crap.
He is a graduate of Western Seminary and earned a D.Min at George Fox Seminary. He’s also the co-author of Eldership and the Mission of God: Equipping Teams for Faithful Church Leadership and Ministry Mantras: Language for Cultivating Kingdom Culture
Bob loves his wife Amy, his son Jack, and his daughters Jane and Josie, and is struggling to put them ahead of everything else, including this church.
Jessica Anders- Pastor, Elder, Family/Children’s Director
Jessica joins the Evergreen staff with an excitement and passion to serve our children and families. She has been a part of the Evergreen Community for years, being involved with the children, youth and worship ministries. With the support of her husband Mike and daughters Larkin and Lynley, she brings experience in teaching children and supporting families in the journey of parenthood. Being a Portland native, Jessica enjoys a well-made strong cup of coffee.
Devin Vaughn- Worship Director
In addition to being a valuable voice on our elder team, Devin Vaughn serves as our worship director and aside from writing music for our community, and leading worship himself, helps to co-ordinate the worship in our various gatherings.
Ben Dudley- Elder
Born and raised in Texas, though he has always felt like he belonged on the West Coast, Ben, his wife Jamie and their sons Nolan and Griffin now reside in Portland, Oregon. Ben serves as the Chaplain for the Portland Timbers Soccer club and also as the Executive Director of Positive Coaching Alliance, a national nonprofit organization that provides online tools, courses and workshops to assist in giving youth athletes a positive, character-building experience. A graduate of Baylor University in 1999 with a Church Recreation and Leisure Services Degree, Ben also has a Masters of Arts and Global Leadership Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. After traveling to many different parts of the world, he quickly realized that if you know the sport of soccer, you can talk to anyone in the world. Ben has dedicated his life to serving people and believes that sport is a very powerful way to help make a difference. He considers himself a very lucky man to be married to his beautiful wife, who is his best friend and partner in life’s journey. He also is loving being a father and is proud that his boys already know how to kick a ball!
Bryan Dormaier- Elder
Bryan is your run of the mill farm kid that experienced a call to ministry and ended up as a pastor in the city. While finishing a degree in computer science at Whitworth University, he experienced a call into ministry which began by serving as a youth pastor. After graduating he discerned that his calling was in church planting and relocated to Portland, Oregon to attend Multnomah Biblical Seminary. After serving as a bi-vocational pastor and team leader for Sacred Roots, a missional initiative on its way to becoming a church, he now spends much of his time in coffee shops and pubs in his neighborhood serving as a “third place missionary.” A fun fact: Bryan once intentionally tackled a teammate during a football game in high school.
Charlene VanDeren- Elder
Charlene and her husband, Kurt, have been a part of Evergreen since 2008. Charlene’s passion is to help others know Jesus and grow in relationship with him. In college God called her to be a nurse, and she has worked in various settings as an RN for the past 30 years. She enjoys backpacking in the Canadian Rockies and drinking Canadian teas.
Tanner Allman- Middle School Director
Tanner is from Lewiston Idaho. He’s currently studying youth ministry at Multnomah University. He says, “I love people and enjoy doing whatever is happening in the moment, whether that’s a midnight run to McDonald’s, a day at the coast or a movie marathon. God is at work in my life and I’m forever thankful for what he’s doing in me.”
Jacob Hess- Intern
Jake is interning at Evergreen while he is working towards getting a Masters of Divinity at Western Seminary. With his hope securely grounded in the gospel, and with great enthusiasm for the thrills and struggles of life, he is taking on an assortment of responsibilities around the community as he gains ministry experience in accompaniment with his education.
